Sustainability Spotlight
Plans have been made to build the Somerset Wetlands National Nature Reserve, which will cover 15,000 acres of the county. This “super nature reserve” will join together various protected sites to preserve wildlife, and utilise the county’s lowland peat as a carbon sink. The first “super nature reserve” in England was launched in Dorset in 2020, linking groups of land to designate spaces for wildlife.

Over the last 30 years, NASA has used telescopes like the Hubble Space Telescope to track the expansion of our universe. The latest findings have shown that the universe is expanding far quicker than astronomers calculated – a one in a million chance.
Underwater skincare
Many years ago, a biologist observed dolphins rubbing against coral. Now, after a 13 year study, scientists have discovered the reason why. When rubbed against, coral secretes antibacterial mucus, which helps treat fungal and other skin infections.

Supply and demand for housing are more mismatched than ever, and having more social housing available would help combat poverty in communities across the country.
