Sustainability Spotlight

Protected no-fishing zones have given way to a new generation of mega tiger sharks and overgrown great whites, which are up to almost one-third longer than usual. As the ecosystems are replenished, roaming sharks have been enjoying the abundance of prey. The creation of shark sanctuaries has also been integral in protecting aquatic predators from being hunted to extinction.

Black hole discovery

For the first time, a black hole has been discovered outside of the Milky Way. Thought to have a mass nine times larger than the sun, the hole orbits a hot blue star weighing 25 times as much as the sun. Scientists have described this new discovery as a “needle in a haystack”.
