Sustainability Spotlight
Today is Earth Day! To mark this annual day of support for environmental protection, conservation and climate change mitigation, a giant globe made entirely of litter collected in parks and waterways in Leicester has been installed in the city. The council hopes that the globe of bottle tops, crips packets and plastic bags will encourage people to think about their impact on the environment.
Water on Europa
Scientists believe that Jupiter’s moon, Europa, is a leading contender in finding signs of life outside of Earth. The surface of the moon, which is now being compared to Greenland’s ice sheet, shows underground pools of salty water that could host organic matter.
Salty chopsticks
The average adult in Japan consumes double the recommended daily amount of salt. However, researchers in Japan have developed chopsticks that artificially replicate the flavour, reducing sodium levels in some of the nation’s favourite dishes.
Investment outlook
Sapience client Edison Investment Group appeared in the Sunday Times this week discussing Warren Buffet’s multibillion-dollar purchases in the last month as the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway.
This week in PR
This week, Sapience has written a blog about blogging! We explore the reason why it can be a powerful tool when it comes to creating community, building a brand and improving SEO rankings. The idea that blogging is ‘old school’ is a misconception – it’s a great tool to help drive company growth.
Sapience’s favourite
Entomologists have discovered 17 new species of millipedes living in the Appalachian Mountains in the US. These invertebrates have an important role in helping to release nutrients into the ecosystem. One of the species has even been named Nannaria Swiftae after Taylor Swift, one of the researcher’s favourite artists.
