Sustainability Spotlight

Snow and ice are some of the most important elements in researching our environment. Scientists are able to use ice cores to date volcanic eruptions and gas levels in the atmosphere millions of years ago, while snow can reveal pollution levels today. However, with snowfall decreasing and glaciers melting, climate research is in serious danger.
Utopian cities

A team of researchers used VR to test people’s reactions to urban landscapes. Results found that vegetation and colourful patterns boosted participants’ morale.
Buried bodies

Skeletons and weapons from the Middle Ages have been unearthed along the route of HS2 in Buckinghamshire. The discovery is significant for its incredible size and scale.
Hybrid work worries

This week, Sapience client Totum Partners was featured in HRReview
after it published a hybrid working report. Founding Director Deborah Gray discussed the issues women face when working from home. Anxieties over career progression and proximity bias may have women feel like they need to return to the office, or otherwise risk losing out.
This week in PR

Twitter has found that asking people to be nice actually works. Users were asked to review tweets deemed offensive, and results showed long-term improvements, with a drop in repeat offences. Could social media truly improve the behaviour of its users? Let us know what you think!
Sapience’s favourite

This year’s Royal Ascot has been steeped in sunshine, with Ladies Day falling on the hottest day of the year so far! As part of an initiative for South Asian women to support artisan weavers, many women have worn their traditional saris, bringing vibrant colours to the races.
