Sustainability Spotlight
A British startup has designed a carbon-fibre sailboat that uses wind energy to create its own hydrogen. The breeze drives a turbine to produce electricity, which then divides water into hydrogen and oxygen. This technology could be used to refuel ships powered by the gas, or generate energy for ports in a decarbonised world.
Deep space
Pictures taken by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope have captured galaxies more than 13 billion years old. The extraordinary images display blue and red lights, which are distant stars and galaxies, respectively.
Milky seas
A glowing sea has been caught on camera for the first time. Once thought to be a myth, the mysterious white oceans can now be confirmed by scientists, and are theorised to be caused by bioluminescent bacteria.
City powerhouse
This week, Sapience client Office Space in Town announced the full ownership of its portfolio in a City A.M. exclusive. With the London office market booming, CEO Giles Fuchs commented that the deal marked the “beginning of an incredibly exciting chapter” in the company’s growth.
This week in PR
On our social channels this week, we looked at a report showing that deforestation in the Amazon rainforest has reached its highest rate in six years. The Amazon is home to vast biodiversity and indigenous tribes. With its health deteriorating, what does this mean for Earth?
Sapience’s favourite
A study has found that elephants value friendship just as much as we do. Researchers saw stress levels decrease in orphaned elephants surrounded by a social group. A similar study conducted in humans had comparable results – perhaps we are more like our long-nosed friends than we think!
