 A message from Richard

Welcome to the new version of Salience! As you might have noticed, we have made some changes to how our newsletter looks. Fret not though, Salience will still be providing updates on some of the great coverage our team has secured, exciting company updates, and insights into the PR industry.

November has been a busy month for us, with many exciting events to monitor such as the COP27 Climate Conference which I have been keenly following on my LinkedIn. The Sapience team also took a trip to Devon to pay a visit to our client, the magnificent Burgh Island Hotel. To round-up November, Sapience is proud to announce our partnership with MIND, a mental health charity that provides advice and support for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Keep up with Salience to discover how we plan to raise funds for this important cause. We hope you will enjoy the new version of Salience as much as we enjoyed putting it together and we look forward to seeing you for the December edition.

Client updates

Edison Group

Did you spot Edison Group in City A.M. this month? Executive Director Neil Shah spoke of greater retailer engagement during the festive rush in an attempt to shore up their financial position as a financial crisis looms.

Royal Garden Hotel

This month, Oliver Bateman, Managing Director at the Royal Garden Hotel, gave Caterer, Licensee and Hotelier News insight into how hospitality businesses can tackle the energy crisis while maintaining high standards.

We know that trees are important for the longevity of our planet, but could it also be true that these green giants have a positive impact on our own lifespans? A recent study suggests that living close to wooded areas could be at the root of a long life, with other natural spaces like marshland having a similar effect. The Sapience team took a trip down to Devon this month to pay a visit to our client, Burgh Island Hotel, for a company retreat. We were treated to spectacular 1930s art-deco rooms and picturesque views of the Devonian coastline. We can totally see why Agatha Christie chose Burgh as the destination to write ‘And Then There Were None’!

Charity

We’re very proud to announce our support for Mind, a charity offering information and support to those struggling with their mental health, and training for mental health professionals. Watch this space for the exciting fundraising initiatives our team have planned for the coming months!

Services spotlight

Social media PR encompasses many things, from reactive commentary to organised campaigns. The key to successful social media lies in brand consistency: identifying the most important messages that represent your company and sharing them with your audience.

The people behind PR

Hi, my name is Joe and I’m a Junior Account Executive at Sapience. Before joining the company, I worked for an organisation that helped improve access to nature for people in the city, and being a lover of flora, I’d have to say that my favourite plant is the bluebell!

Sapience insights

We can measure the distance to the moon and the size of an atom. But how do we measure something less objective. Say, the impact of public relations?

Here is where the Barcelona Principles come in. This month on the Sapience blog, we explored how the Principles can help determine the success of your PR campaign.

Sapience’s favourite

No, that’s not Bob Geldof you see grooving away to a dancefloor classic, but this long-tailed rodent isn’t far off! New research has shown that rats have an innate sense of rhythm – and a penchant for piano music – with scientists finding that when the animals were played Mozart, they would move their heads in time with the sonata.
