Podcasts are an incredibly popular source of information, education and entertainment, no matter where your interests lie.

Podcasts may have been around for over 15 years, but they remain an incredibly popular source of information, education and entertainment, no matter where your interest lies. Whether you listen to podcasts on your commute or as you go to sleep, they are a valuable source of information to keep up with current trends.

Like any sector, PR and communications has attracted its own proliferation of podcasts, hosted by industry professionals, journalists, and media experts. Below are some of Sapience’s favourite PR podcasts from recent months.

PR Week

Part of PR Week magazine, the PR Week podcast is hosted by editorial director Steve Barrett. Each week, Steve is joined by a guest from the industry to discuss trends and experiences in the sector. It also features a weekly roundup of interesting news and stories about PR and communications. Containing engaging conversations with professionals from both agencies and in-house teams, this podcast is great for those who wish to stay up-to-date with current developments in PR and comms.

PR Resolution

The PR Resolution podcast is hosted by Stella Bayes, founder and director of CoverageBook. Featuring monthly informal interviews, guests from various parts of the sector are encouraged to tackle complex topics including technology’s role in communications. The interviews are consistently fascinating and well-conducted, breaking down some difficult subjects into educational episodes, usually under one hour.

PRmoment

The PRmoment Podcast features in-depth interviews with PR and comms professionals based in the UK. The wide variety of guests includes voices from all branches within the industry, from beauty to politics, agency PR to corporate in-house communications. Often taking a chronological approach, guests are encouraged to share experiences from their early beginnings to their current achievements.

The Spin Sucks

Led by Gini Dietrich, the Spin Sucks Podcast comes in bite-sized episodes featuring industry insights and professional development for people already working in the industry. Always looking at future trends and useful tips and tricks how to get ahead, this podcast is ideal for busy professionals who are looking for quick and insightful hints on how to grow and develop their career or business.

PRovoke Media

Previously known as the Echo Chamber, this podcast, produced by PRovoke Media, a news outlet for PR professionals, features interviews and analysis about global themes in the PR industry. With a holistic approach, it covers all imaginable parts of the industry, as well as marketing and social media trends. With more than 300 available episodes in the back catalogue, this podcast is ideal for curious binge-listeners.

The Guardian’s “Today in Focus”

While Today in Focus is not about PR as such, this daily podcast is an excellent deep dive into current affairs and global news. Well researched and presented, this podcast will keep you up to date with all the most important news stories and trends. An essential tool for PR professionals looking to stay on top of the news cycle.

The FT News Briefing

Similarly, the well-established FT News Briefing podcast is an excellent way to stay up to date with global business stories on a daily basis. The short and snappy episodes are a must for PR and comms professionals in the financial and business world. Plus, there’s a handy transcript, should you be interested in revisiting a story after listening.

These are just some of the podcasts we’ve enjoyed over recent months, but there are many more excellent PR-focused shows out there. All the shows listed above are available with most popular podcast providers.
