MIPIM London’s takes its place in the sun…

Published: Oct 25th, 2019

MIPIM London was held earlier this month in the perhaps less than glamorous surroundings of the Old Billingsgate fish market – certainly compared to its far older sister event MIPIM Cannes, which plays out at the town’s Palais des Festival  just down from the celebrated Croisette.

However the level of endorsement and calibre of speakers more than made up for any location deficit. Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave the event a ringing endorsement, chair of MIPIM London was renowned TV presenter Fiona Bruce, with Minister of State for Housing Esther McVey adding some further political stardust to the event.

Trends, themes and issues discussed were many and varied. They ranged from the digital transformation of the built environment, what family offices are focusing on with regard to real estate, which are the UK’s most talked about cities and how the property sector can respond to climate change concerns.

Companies worth highlighting are Berlin headquartered Quarters, which is bringing its own brand of co-living to the world, Cuvelo, with its new approach to marketing beautifully refurbished homes, Optimity, which is on a mission to boost tech and connectivity for its property clients and Mark London, setting new standards in international place making.

Sapience has long supported MIPIM events, we popped into the Paris PropTech forum in the summer, aim to journey to Cannes for next year’s premier international MIPIM event and of course back for MIPIM London 2020…
